Statistics of crimes committed within 7 months of 2006
On the base of statistics for the period of 7 months, 2006 decrease is obvious in especially serious crimes - considering the main types, in comparison with the similar period of the past year. In particular:
- Premeditated murder was decreased by 36, 6%. In the period of 7 months of 2005, 331 crimes are registered, whereas within the period of 7 months of 2006 - the mentioned number amounts 210;
- Attempted murder - 0, 6%; in the period of 7 months of 2005, 165 crimes are registered, whereas within the period of 7 months of 2006 - the number decreased to 164;
- Premeditated health injury - 32, 7%; in the period of 7 months of 2005, 251crimes are registered, whereas within the period of 7 months of 2006 - the decreased to 169;
- Illegal deprivation of liberty with self-interest - 49%; in the period of 7 months of 2005, 51crimes are registered, whereas within the period of 7 months of 2006 - the number decreased to 26;
- Assault with purpose of misappropriation of vehicles - 11, 6%; in the period of 7 months of 2005, 129 crimes are registered, whereas within the period of 7 months of 2006 - the number decreased to 114;
- Also, decrease of the facts of theft of vehicles is obvious - 22, 5%, taking possession of vehicles without purpose of misappropriation amounts 38, 7%;
- Measures are intensified in the sphere of combat illegal circulation of drugs and narcobusiness within the period.
Number of crimes, committed within the period of 7 months of 2006, exceeds in 54, 4% by comparison with the similar period of the past year; among them: number of revealed facts of illegal importation of drugs - increased by 26, 7%.
However, total number of thefts has increased by 118, 7%, number of serious thefts decreased by 13, 9%. Within the total number, housebreaking decreased by 13, 9%. Also, number of thefts of vehicles decreased by 4, 9%. Trend towards monthly increase of the percentage of exposed crimes is noticeable, namely: preliminary investigation was initiated on 35982 criminal cases within 7 months of the current year; 10046 were exposed among them, which amounts 27, 9%.
21525 crimes were registered for the similar period of the past year, 8714 of them were exposed. Such sharp increase of crimes can partly be explained by the fact that amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code of Georgia were made since May, 2005. According to these amendments, preliminary investigation will be initiated on every fact of committed crime.
Number of exposed criminal cases increased by 1332, which amounts 15, 3%. Due to the activities by Criminal Police, number of exposed crimes was increased by 20%.
Trend towards monthly increase of the percentage of exposed crimes is noticeable in 2006, namely:
Results in January - 20, 5%;
Results of two months - 22, 3%
Results of three months - 26, 4%;
Results of four months - 26, 6%;
Results of five months - 27, 7%;
Results of six months - 27, 7%;
Results of seven months - 27, 9%.
